Kolonie Hannover in Bochum-Günnigfeld is a workers' settlement built by Krupp in the late 19th century. It provided housing for the workers of the Hannover Mine in Wattenscheid. The two-story, cross-plan houses feature timber framing and reflect the industrial heritage of the area.

Guided Story

In front of you is the Kolonie Hannover, a historic workers' settlement from the late 19th century. Built by Krupp, this settlement provided housing for the workers of the Hannover Mine in Wattenscheid. The two-story houses with their timber framing are a testament to the region's industrial history. As you look around, you'll notice the uniform layout of the homes, reflecting a sense of community and purpose. To the south, about 174 meters away, you'll find the Stolpersteine on Günnigfelder Straße, another significant monument in the area.
