Standing here at the Kauscha Dam, you’re witnessing a remarkable feat of engineering. This dam, constructed from homogeneous loess clay, is renowned for its stability. Built to protect against floods and to supply water, it was officially inaugurated in 1985. As you look around, consider the significance of its dual purpose. To the northeast, about 799 meters away, is the Dresden-Nickern circular enclosure, a historic site. And just beyond, 926 meters in the same direction, you’ll find Nickern Castle. These landmarks add a layer of history to the landscape surrounding the dam.
