You're standing in front of the last remnant of the former Düsselthal Abbey, the heritage-protected 'Hunger Tower'. This structure is not just a relic of the past but a silent witness to history. It stands on the grounds where, in 1822, a rescue center for orphans and street children was established by Count Adelberdt von der Recke-Volmerstein. The abbey itself was built in 1710 and was a gift from Elector Johann Wilhelm of the Palatinate to the Cistercians. If you look to the west, you can spot Zoopark about 500 meters away. This tower isn't just a viewing point; it's a window into history.
