Guided Story
Imagine standing in front of a scene that seems to have leaped out of a fairy tale. This group of sculptures tells the story of a farmer's wife who outsmarted the devil himself. Look at the expressions on their faces – so vibrant they seem about to come to life. To your left, you'll spot the charming Mantels Garden House, another gem here on the Lousberg. The legend depicted here explains how the Lousberg came to be. The devil, intending to destroy Aachen Cathedral, carried earth to fill the valley. But the farmer’s wife, with her cleverness, distracted him with a simple trick, ensuring he never completed his task. What a cunning move! Take a moment to appreciate the artistry of Krista Löneke-Kemmerling and the story steeped in local folklore.
