Can you almost smell the lime and coal in the air? Here at the Kalkwerke Walheim, you're standing in a place deeply rooted in Aachen's history. Look to your left and you'll see the old lime kilns that once burned day and night. The workers here from 1870 to 1924 had tough, yet crucial jobs. Did you know that in the 1950s, lime production stopped due to changes in the industry?
