Guided Story
Imagine standing at a place where children once awaited their uncertain journeys. Look to your left, and you'll see the powerful sculpture commemorating the Kindertransports from 1938 to 1945. These trains were a lifeline for some and the end of the line for others. Behind you is the historic Friedrichstraße station, from where the children embarked. The artist, Frank Meisler, was one of those children. He survived and created this sculpture to keep the stories and fates of his fellow travelers alive. As you gaze at the figures, you might sense the courage and hope they carried. Let this place sink in and reflect on those who traveled on trains of life and death.
