The former forced labor camp of the Lothringen Colliery in Bochum's Gerthe district serves as a reminder of forced labor during the 1940s. Nine buildings of the original camp are now protected as architectural heritage in North Rhine-Westphalia. Built near Shaft III, the barracks housed forced laborers.
