Guided Story
Can you feel the echoes of history in these walls? Look around you at the Kito House, a classic piece of Hanseatic architecture. Did you know it was once a bustling warehouse for exotic goods from overseas? Imagine the hustle and bustle as sailing ships docked here. Now, it houses the works of Fritz and Hermine Overbeck, a couple from the groundbreaking Worpswede artist colony. Their paintings capture the mystical landscapes of the Teufelsmoor. If you look closely, you might just sense the passion and brushstrokes of these artists. Just behind you, a short walk away, lies the impressive whale jawbone, a nod to Vegesack’s seafaring heritage.
