Guided Story
Can you hear the clatter and hiss if you close your eyes? Here at Roundhouse I, surrounded by these magnificent locomotives, you can almost feel the steam engines of the past. Look around; these enormous roundhouses were the beating heart of the railway depot. Imagine engineers and workers once tirelessly preparing trains for their next journeys. Did you know the railway was the backbone of Chemnitz's industrialization? It connected the city to the world, bringing stories and goods from afar. Behind you, to the northwest, stands the Coal Bunker Type Hilbersdorf, another relic of this industrial heyday. Every corner here speaks of the passion and ingenuity that made Chemnitz a vital railway hub.
