Affectionately known as 'Langer Lui', the Ludwigsmonument commemorates Ludewig I, the first Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine. Built between 1841 and 1844 by architect Georg Moller, it towers 39.15 meters over Darmstadt. Located on Luisenplatz, named after Grand Duchess Luise.
