The Protestant St. Johann Baptist Church in Dortmund-Brechten was constructed around 1250 as a three-nave hall with a rectangular choir. The west tower likely predates the main structure, and the sacristy was added around 1500. Significant paintings from its original construction were revealed during renovations in 1960/1962.
