The Albert Bridge, named after King Albert of Saxony, spans 316 meters over the Elbe and was built in 1877. It is the easternmost of the four Elbe bridges in Dresden's city center and is a protected monument. During the DDR era, it was known as the Bridge of Unity, commemorating the 1946 merger of the KPD and SPD.
