The Saxony State Archives - Hauptstaatsarchiv Dresden houses the ministerial archive of the Free State of Saxony and the archives of the central authorities of the Kingdom and Electorate of Saxony. Located within the government district of Dresden's Innere Neustadt, this remarkable ensemble of buildings has been a protected heritage monument since the 2000s. An additional storage building was constructed between 2006 and 2008 to accommodate increasing collections.
