The 'Liberation' sculpture in Düsseldorf, created by Gabriele Tefke in 1989, commemorates Helene M. Curtens and Agnes Olmans, who were burned in Gerresheim on August 17, 1738. They were the last victims of the witch trial in the Lower Rhine. The inscription 'The dignity of man is inviolable' serves as a reminder of all the tormented and outcasts.
