Operated by the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, the Duisburg Air Rescue Station has been pivotal in emergency response since 1975. The Christoph 9 rescue helicopter takes off from here, conducting up to 1,300 missions annually within a 50-kilometer radius. It has also been involved in cross-border operations in the Netherlands since 2003.
