Guided Story
Can you hear the gentle murmur of the water behind you? That’s the small Gera River, powering the mill for centuries. Imagine yourself in 1735, standing before the smoking ruins of a mill that just burned down. But today, thanks to its reconstruction, it stands as the last working mill out of 60 in Erfurt. Look up to see the roof under which the impressive Zuppinger waterwheel operates. It drives the old roller mills that grind the grain. Nearby, to the southwest, you can spot the Predigerkirche, which also has its own long history. This mill isn’t just a technical marvel, but a testament to Erfurt’s rich past.
