Guided Story
Look up at the towering Nikolai Tower, standing proudly against the sky. Imagine, this tower is all that remains of the Nikolaikirche, once a central part of the old town. It survived a devastating fire in 1744 and the rest was demolished in 1747. Behind you, the Gera River flows serenely under the Lehmannsbrücke, a silent witness to the ages. Turn east, and you'll see the Evangelical Augustinian Monastery, its history stretching back to the 13th century. In the late afternoon, as the sun lowers, the tower casts long shadows over the city – the perfect time to feel the magic of Erfurt.
