Guided Story
Standing here on the Petersberg, you're at a site that once formed the core of both Mainz's and later Prussia's military defense. Imagine soldiers in the 17th century keeping watch over the land from these walls. Look up at the thick fortress walls—they were a formidable barrier against invaders over 350 years ago. Behind you, you can see the towers of the Church of St. Peter and Paul in the distance. Legend has it that the sound of the church bells once marked the daily rhythm for the soldiers. Did you know the citadel was never actually captured? It was one of the strongest fortresses of its time. As you stand here, you can truly feel the significance of these walls.
