Opened in 1892 and designed by Heinrich Seeling in Baroque Revival style, the Grillo-Theater is a cultural cornerstone in Essen. Donated by Wilhelmine Grillo, it has been the main venue for the city's theater ensemble since 1988. Its rich history makes it one of the oldest theaters in the Ruhr area.
