Designed by Gottfried Böhm, the Heilig Geist Church in Essen-Katernberg was consecrated in 1957 and has been under heritage protection since February 2019. Following its deconsecration in 2020, the sacred building was transformed into an internationally used art space under the guidance of the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein Foundation.
