Take a look at the impressive brickwork of this neo-Gothic church. The Thomaskirche was designed in 1900 by the architect Heinrich Robert from Bochum. It belongs to the Protestant Thomas community in the Essen church district of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland. After being destroyed in World War II, it was rebuilt with some changes. This church is not only a place of worship but also part of Theme Route 2 of the Industrial Heritage Trail. If you look west, you can see the nearby St. Nikolaus Church.
