The Idstedt Lion in Flensburg commemorates the victory of Danish troops over the Schleswig-Holsteiners at the Battle of Idstedt in 1850. Created in 1862 by Danish sculptor Herman Wilhelm Bissen, this late-classical monument returned to its original location in 2011 after a storied past.
