Guided Story

Can you smell the fresh wood and varnish in the air? That's the magic of the Museumswerft right here on Flensburg Harbor, keeping its traditions alive. Look around: craftsmen are working with dedication everywhere you turn. In front of you, a new mast might be taking shape while behind you, a hull is getting ready for its first voyage. Did you know they even teach the ancient art of caulking here? That's where the seams of a wooden ship are sealed with hemp and tar. To your left, you'll see the Flensburg Maritime Museum, which tells the stories of the ships that may have been built here. Every corner of this shipyard breathes history and invites you to become a part of it.
