Imagine standing on a bridge that tells a story spanning over a century. The Untermainbrücke, where you now stand, was originally constructed by Peter Schmick between 1872 and 1874. If you look north, you'll spot the Main Palais about 167 meters away. This bridge connects the bustling Neue Mainzer Straße with the charming Schweizer Straße in Sachsenhausen. It was destroyed on March 26, 1945, but reconstruction began in 1948. Completely renovated again in 1989 and 1990, it now stands as a testament to the blend of tradition and modernity. To the west, about 140 meters away, is the Nizza Park, a lovely spot to pause and take in the view.
