Established in 1994, the Hafen Grimberg Nature Reserve is located on the eastern edge of Gelsenkirchen along the Rhine-Herne Canal. It is bordered by the Gelsenkirchen-Bismarck–Herne railway line and the industrial sites of Grimberger Hafen. The area includes the north-south running Green Corridor D, providing a green oasis amid the industrial landscape.
