Siedlung Schüngelberg

You're standing before the historic Schüngelberg Settlement, built from 1897 for the miners of the Hugo colliery and their families. This residential area serves as a remarkable example of workers' housing from that era. In 1989, it underwent a heritage restoration as part of the International Building Exhibition, preserving its architectural charm while meeting the needs of its residents. In 1993, the settlement expanded with the addition of around 200 new apartments on a seven-hectare open space. Take a moment to imagine how life here has evolved over the decades.
