Guided Story
Close your eyes for a moment and try to feel the whispers of the past lingering in the air. Just behind you, a meter away, is the Stolperschwelle, a poignant reminder of the innocent lives affected here. Look up at the monument built in 1959. It stands as a powerful symbol of resistance against forgetting. During World War II, this was a subcamp of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp. The people interned here endured unimaginable hardships. However, this monument is not only a place of mourning. It is a reminder of hope and a solemn promise that such atrocities must never happen again. If you turn around, you'll see the August-Bebel-Platz in the distance – alive and vibrant today, a stark contrast to the dark history of this site.
