The 'Up ewig ungedeelt' memorial commemorates the enduring unity of the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein as established in the Treaty of Ripen in 1460. This stone stele, erected in 1908, was inspired by a poem by August Wilhelm Neuber from 1841. The phrase became the motto of the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
