Built between 1878 and 1883 in Hamburg’s Altona-Nord, the Viktoria-Kaserne originally housed the Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 31. Today, its preserved buildings serve as a vibrant center for cultural and social work organizations. The site includes one remaining barracks building along with partially preserved drill halls, stables, and carriage houses.

Take a look around; you're standing at a site rich with history. The Viktoria-Kaserne in Hamburg's Altona-Nord was built between 1878 and 1883 for the Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 31. Of the original three large barracks buildings, one still stands today. You can also see partially preserved drill halls, stables, and carriage houses. After World War I, the site was used by the police, and part of it even served as emergency accommodation after World War II. Nowadays, these protected buildings are a vibrant hub for cultural and social work. It's a remarkable example of how the use of a historic site can evolve over time.
