Standing here, you're at the site of what was once the Inneres Leintor, a key city gate in Hannover's medieval fortifications. In front of you, where Schloßstraße now runs, this gate was part of the defenses that surrounded the city. It not only served as protection but also marked an important entry point. Look to the east, just eight meters away, and you'll see the monument of the Neues Tor. The Leintor Bridge is only 21 meters further in the same direction. Together, these marks tell the story of a city that once relied on its gates and walls for safety. As you stand here, the monument reminds you of how Hannover has evolved over the centuries while preserving its historical roots.
