Located on Heidelberg's Heiligenberg, the Heidenloch is a striking 55-meter deep shaft with a diameter of three to four meters. Renowned since early modern times, it was thoroughly explored by the Kurpfälzisches Museum in 1936. In 1987, a protective shelter was built over the shaft.
