Guided Story

Imagine standing here, surrounded by echoes of the past and tales of destruction. Right in front of you is the Krautturm, a powerful reminder of Heidelberg's fortified history. Look to your right, and you’ll spot the Apothekerturm, another part of the castle’s defensive network. Few people know that the Krautturm was originally a gunpowder store. In 1693, during the War of the Palatine Succession, it was heavily damaged by an explosion. Just behind you, a short walk away, is the Lower Princes' Fountain. If you’re here at sunset, turn your gaze northwest towards the Heidelberg Castle, basking in the golden glow. It's a view that stays with you long after you leave.
