Zoo Heidelberg, also known as Tiergarten Heidelberg, spans 10.2 hectares and is home to approximately 2478 animals across 155 species. Established in 1933 and opened in 1934, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. Under the direction of Klaus Wünnemann, the zoo actively participates in European conservation breeding programs.
