The life-size bronze statue of Saint Bishop Bernward of Hildesheim was erected in 1893 at the Domhof. Designed by Berlin sculptor Ferdinand Hartzer, it commemorates the 900th anniversary of his enthronement as bishop. The statue's location and pedestal have changed several times since its installation.
