The Europabrücke in Koblenz connects the city center with Lützel, crossing the Mosel River in a remarkable span. Initially built in 1934 as the Neue Moselbrücke, it was reconstructed in 1954 after being destroyed in World War II. In 1974, it was expanded from four to eight lanes to accommodate increased traffic.
