Built in 1848 as a single-track railway bridge, the Magdeburg lift bridge now serves pedestrians. It is one of Germany's oldest and largest lift bridges, recognized as a cultural heritage monument. Spanning the Elbe at river kilometer 325.47, it was once part of the Biederitz–Magdeburg-Buckau railway line.
