The Ranzengardist Fountain is hard to miss with its whimsical figures. The Ranzengarde, founded in 1837, is the oldest carnival corps in Mainz, affectionately known as the 'Mother of all Mainz Guards.' It helped establish the Mainz Carnival Association, which still organizes the festivities today. If you look closely, you'll notice the intricate craftsmanship that narrates the colorful history of the carnival. Just to the west, you'll find the Carnival Museum. You might even feel the lingering spirit of past revelers who continue to bring this place to life.
