Saint John's Church, also known as the Old Cathedral, was consecrated in 910 and stands as a rare example of Carolingian architecture in Germany. It served as the episcopal church of the Mainz Archdiocese until 1036. Since 1828, it has been part of the Protestant community and is a protected cultural heritage site.
