Kurt-Schumacher-Brücke (West 2)

Can you hear the river flowing beneath you? That's the Rhine, weaving its way through Mannheim for centuries. The Kurt Schumacher Bridge, where you stand now, opened in 1972, but crossings here date back much further. Look to your left, and you'll spot the old Teufelsbrücke, named after a local legend. They say the devil himself once tried to cross the city, and that old bridge is the last trace of his attempt. As you walk across, you can feel the city breathing – cars, bicycles, people all moving in a fascinating rhythm. Across the river, you'll see the tower of the Hafenkirche, standing like a silent guardian over the city.
