Broich Castle, located in the district of Broich in Mülheim an der Ruhr, is a historical fortification on the western bank of the Ruhr. Constructed between 883 and 884, it stands as one of the oldest surviving examples of early medieval military architecture north of the Alps. Its position at the historic Ruhr ford of the old Hellweg route adds to its significance.
