Opened on March 15, 1871, the Braunauer Eisenbahnbrücke connects Munich's main station with its eastern counterpart, spanning the Isar River. As a Bavarian architectural heritage monument, it was initially part of the rail route to Braunau am Inn in Austria. Just west of the bridge, the Große Stadtbach flows, supplying water to the nearby Isarwerk 3.
