You're standing before a piece of Munich's history. Created by Carl Hocheder in 1893, the Bürgermeister-Erhardt-Brunnen is made of solid limestone. It's recognized as an architectural heritage monument in Bavaria. Here, you're right next to the Maximilian Bridge, of which this fountain is a part. Notice the inscription honoring Dr. A. v. Erhardt, the first mayor from 1870 to 1888. Take a moment to look north toward the Schwindinsel, a lovely spot for a stroll.
