Kontumazgarten
A Green Escape in Nuremberg’s Heart
Did you know?
Situated right on the left bank of the Pegnitz, the Kontumazgarten provides a serene escape from the urban hustle, despite being just a stone's throw from the bustling Old Town.
Guided Story
Listen closely to the gentle rustling of the leaves around you. That's nature's melody here by the Pegnitz River. Look to your left, and you'll find a playground bustling with joy and laughter. This park has a hidden past—it was once part of a quarantine area during the medieval times. Travelers had to stay here until they were deemed healthy enough to enter the city. Hard to imagine, isn't it, amidst all this tranquility? Now, it's a perfect spot to unwind and take in the fresh air. If you glance north, across the river, you'll see Hallerwiese, another lovely place to relax and enjoy.
