This memorial stone marks the site of the former Jewish infirmary and retirement home, which served as a collection camp from April 1940 to January 16, 1943. On January 16, 1943, the GESTAPO evacuated the home, deporting the last Jews of Potsdam to extermination camps. The memorial was erected on January 27, 1998, to commemorate this tragic past.
