Built between 1247 and 1343, the Marienkirche in Reutlingen stands as a prime example of Gothic architecture in Württemberg. It was the base for the Swabian reformer Matthäus Alber and remains the spiritual heart of the local Lutheran community. After the devastating city fire of 1726, the church was extensively restored in a neo-Gothic style, with a baptismal font from 1499 being one of the few surviving original features.
