Established in 1885 by Karl Ritter von Goebel, the Botanical Garden of the University of Rostock spans 7.8 hectares. It is recognized as a cultural heritage monument in Germany and is operated by the University of Rostock. The outdoor area, located on Hamburger Straße in the Hansaviertel, was designed by Arno Lehmann and Erich Rulsch between 1935 and 1939.
