Founded in 1516, the Ulm Central Library is the city's oldest public cultural institution. Since 2004, it has been housed in a pyramid-shaped glass building in the old town, designed by Gottfried Böhm. Operated by the city of Ulm, it includes a children's library and four branch libraries.
