Vertriebenendenkmal

The Vertriebenendenkmal in Witten was unveiled on May 21, 1995, to commemorate the over 15 million Germans displaced during World War II. Operated by the Bund der Vertriebenen Stadtverband Witten, the memorial also honors the more than 3 million who lost their lives and the approximately 18,000 displaced persons who found a new home in Witten. Standing two meters tall, it bears an inscription remembering those who died due to war, flight, and expulsion.
