The Ludwigsdenkmal on Paradeplatz in Worms commemorates the military achievements of Grand Duke Ludwig IV of Hesse and by Rhine. Erected in 1895 from a design by city architect Karl Hofmann, it honors his role in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. It is recognized as a cultural heritage monument in Germany.
