Guided Story
Imagine standing before the remains of a tree so grand that its crown once caught the eyes of passersby from afar. As you look up, think about how this tree was planted back in the 16th century, in a world vastly different from today. Just behind you, you might catch the gentle sound of the Pfrimm river flowing. This tree stood witness to Martin Luther's hearing at the Diet of Worms in 1521. Although it lost its crown in 1870, it remains a silent witness to history, its wood still telling tales. You’ll notice a carving by Gustav Nonnenmacher made from its wood. This place quietly encapsulates the bond between humanity and nature in a truly unique way.
